If one knows what, where, when and, most importantly, how the hell it all happens, public transport really works in this city. To make it more challenging, let me put it shortly. There is:

1.No main bus station in Bucharest (instead there are zillions of makeshift ‘garages’, as well as several bus stations, generally located according to the destinations served).
2.No subway train running after midnight unless there is a big soccer game in town and noblesse oblige.
3.No train in or out of Bucharest between midnight and 5 A.M., unless a train gets in late.
